Cebuana Lhuillier awards outstanding ALS teacher!September 11, 2018
It takes a lot of courage and determination to become a teacher. I’ve watched a few documentaries about the struggle of a teacher especially when they teach schools that are far away from the town of an area, to think that their salary is enough.
Last September 6, 2018,the largest micro-financial services company, Cebuana Lhuillier together with the help of the Department of Education awarded the teachers of Alternative Learning System (ALS) held at the city of pines. And dubbed as NALSTAR (National Alternative Learning System Teachers’ Achievement Recognition) this is a simple gratitude for us to acknowledge the hard work of our teachers.
Windel Alvarez from Caramoan, Camarines Sur, is the lucky teacher who took home the grand prize of 250,00 pesos and a NALSTAR trophy. The half of the cash prize will be used as a seed money to start his oen ALS school. More over, he surpass four other finalist from the original 17 nominees per region namely, Bienvenido Cabaro, Jr. from Tuguegarao City representing Cagayan Valley; from Misamis Oriental, representing Northern Mindanao, Doreen Pabonita; Michaelle Saganib from Baguio City representing Northern Luzon; and Sara Tejada from Valenzuela City of the National Capital Region. The top four finalist will also get 20,000 pesos each, and the other 12 nominees will take home a 10,000 pesos each cash prize.
The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cebuana Lhuillier said “The success of the ALS program can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of its educators, who give more than a 100 percent of their efforts in moulding and educating the youth, especially those coming from indigent communities. The NALSTAR Awards is our means to recognize their selfless commitment to teaching.” And expresses their support and appreciation.
Some people will not understand the struggles of our ALS educator, but their passion to help and teach children is very commendable. This is a good thing that Cebuana Lhuillier did for our dear teachers.
